From the ceremony:
The bride and groom wanted a nice elopement ceremony on their way to the beach. They settled on downtown Orlando’ s Lake Eola. They chose a simple religious elopement ceremony.
Wedding day Eye Candy:
Enjoy pictures I took of them and Blake.
In the bride’s own words:
We had been planning on getting married, talking about different venues. Then the Make a Wish Foundation granted my son, Blake, a wish, and were sending us to Florida. A trip we would have never been able to afford on our own. So we talked it over and decided this (Florida) was meant to be our venue.
Where did I get my dress?
“Used but never abused” second hand shop in Morton, IL. I payed 80.00 with tax for a beautiful dress with the tags still on it! I highly recommend searching these types of stores. You never know what kind of “gems” you will come across!
We got his shirt and shorts at Gordman’s here in Peoria, for 45.00! Shoes were from Shoe Carnival for 50.00.
From top to bottom, Walmart! 40.00 for shirt, shoes, shorts and socks!
I bought a blue topaz engagement ring and a silver band, along with Rodneys ring, from Ebay. Again, you can find great deals that you will not find in stores. My bracelet was a gift from my now mother in law. And my shoes were a Salvation Army find. They still had their original tags, and I paid 4.00!!
I picked up 3 half dozen rose bouquets from Aldi’s, broke the thorns off, stripped a few leaves off and arranged them.. They made for a beautiful, fresh, long-stemmed bouquet, all for 12.00!!
Where are we from?
Peoria, IL. (Central Illinois)
Our stay in Florida:
With the Make a Wish Foundation
granting a wish for our 9 yr old son, Blake, The Give Kids The World Village in Kissimee, FL provided a villa for our stay. This place was beyond amazing. It is 100% about the kids. Our two bedroom, two bathroom villa was absolutely stunning and very roomy. Nothing like a hotel/motel room! With over 1,000 volunteers per month, this amazing village of over 70 acres is dedicated solely to providing children, with all kinds of disabilities, the time of their lives. With their own water park pool area, ice cream shack, pizza place, buffet, play grounds, horse back riding, fishing, and more!! They were the nicest people who would do anything to make sure your stay was as good as possible. It truly showed us just how many caring people there are out there. We hated to leave!
During our trip:
Thanks to Make a Wish, Blake had the time of his life! Universal Studio’s, Disney World, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Sea World, all in one week! It was exhausting, but it was an experience of a lifetime for us all! From front row seats to the Shamu show, the VIP passes to all the rides. We were made to feel like royalty! The Make a Wish Foundation
and its sponsors are truly amazing. They pulled out all the stops for our little boy, and gave him memories for life.
Our choice of venue:
We chose Lake Eola Park in Orlando, FL on Rosalind Dr. With different scenery, a water fountain in the background, and beautiful wildlife ducks and birds, and plenty of shaded area’s, it made a beautiful venue. Being located in the heart of downtown Orlando, it was very easy to access, and best of all, it was a FREE venue!! (We’re all about a bargain!) After all was said and done, our wedding cost came to about 400.00! This included all 3 outfits, rings, marriage license, our wonderful officiator, Sheri Thomson, and a bouquet!
(note: Lake Eola is a public park and they do have rental fees for the actual venues)
accolade -Thank you so much for doing an awesome job for us! It was exactly what we wanted, no muss, no fuss! 😉
